 Dr.Mohammad yunus. Grameen Bank is a pioneer in microcredit and social business. In 2012, its founder was appointed Acharya (Education) at Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland, a role he held until 2018. Before this, he was a professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Chittagong. He has authored several books on finance and is a founding board member of Rural America and the Rural Foundation, both supporting microcredit initiatives. He also served on the board of directors of the United Nations Foundation from 1998 to 2021. In 2022, he co-founded the Esports for Development Movement in collaboration with the Global Esports Federation.

On 5 August 2024, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned following the Non-Cooperation Movement. The next day, on 6 August 2024, President Mohammad Sahabuddin appointed Yunus as the head of the interim government of Bangladesh after dissolving the National Assembly, responding to student demands. His acquittal on appeal the following day from labor code violation charges, perceived as politically motivated, allowed his return and subsequent appointment. Yunus assumed the role of Chief Advisor to the Interim Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh on 8 August 2024. He had previously served as an advisor to the caretaker government in 1996 and has advised the Department of Public Education, Science and Technology, as well as the Ministry of Environment and Forests.

 5 আগস্ট 2024-এ, সাবেক প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা অসহযোগ আন্দোলনের পর পদত্যাগ করেন।  পরের দিন, 6 আগস্ট 2024, রাষ্ট্রপতি মোহাম্মদ সাহাবুদ্দিন ছাত্রদের দাবিতে সাড়া দিয়ে জাতীয় পরিষদ ভেঙে দিয়ে ইউনূসকে বাংলাদেশের অন্তর্বর্তী সরকারের প্রধান হিসেবে নিয়োগ দেন।  শ্রম কোড লঙ্ঘনের অভিযোগ থেকে পরের দিন আপীলে তার খালাস, রাজনৈতিকভাবে উদ্দেশ্যপ্রণোদিত হিসাবে বিবেচিত, তার প্রত্যাবর্তন এবং পরবর্তী নিয়োগের অনুমতি দেয়।  ইউনূস 8 আগস্ট 2024 তারিখে গণপ্রজাতন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশের অন্তর্বর্তী সরকারের প্রধান উপদেষ্টার ভূমিকা গ্রহণ করেন। তিনি এর আগে 1996 সালে তত্ত্বাবধায়ক সরকারের উপদেষ্টা হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করেছিলেন এবং পাশাপাশি জনশিক্ষা, বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তি বিভাগেও পরামর্শ দিয়েছেন।  পরিবেশ ও বন মন্ত্রণালয় হিসাবে।
